You're Closer to the Barn Than You Think
If you live in Fulton or Penngrove, you may be closer to one of our riding academies than you realize. Our Santa Rosa location, just outside Fulton, is still relatively new to the area, while our Petaluma location is a convenient option for many Penngrove families.
We hear it constantly. Someone mentions they live in Penngrove, or they've been in Fulton for years, and once they realize how close we are, the reaction is almost always the same. "Wait, you're right here?"
We are. And since we're still fairly new to the area, this summer is a great time to come find out for yourself.
Why trying it once feels harder than it is
Horseback riding isn't like signing up for a swim class or a soccer league. It feels like a bigger decision than it actually is. There's a sense that you need to know something first, own gear first, or commit to something ongoing before you even show up. So people put it off. They think about it every summer and then summer ends.
Here's the truth: all you need for your first ride is a closed-toe shoe and a little curiosity. We provide the helmet for your first lesson, and from there we'll match you with the right horse and walk you through everything else once you're here.
What an intro lesson actually looks like
We call it an intro lesson for a reason. It's a 30 minute ride, just enough time to get comfortable in the saddle, learn the basics, and get a real feel for what riding is like, without any pressure to know what you're doing going in.
No long term commitment, no assumption that you'll fall in love with it (though a lot of people do). It's just half an hour to find out if this is something you want more of.
Two locations, both worth the short drive
We've got two locations, one in Petaluma and one just outside Santa Rosa in Fulton, and if you're coming from Fulton or Penngrove, you're often closer to us than you'd expect. That short drive matters more than people think. It's the difference between an activity you actually do this summer and one you keep meaning to get to.
Why summer is actually a great time to start
We ride in our indoor arenas year round, rain or shine. But summer gives you the option to ride outside too, and on the mornings or evenings when it's not too hot, there's something genuinely relaxing about being out in the open arena, fresh air, horse beneath you, no rush. It's a different kind of riding experience than the indoor lessons, and it's one of our favorite parts of the season.
This isn't about becoming a "horse person"
You don't have to want a horse of your own. You don't have to picture yourself competing someday. Plenty of people try an intro lesson because they're curious, because their kid asked, because they saw a horse from the road and thought about it for three days afterward.
That curiosity is enough. Riding has a way of pulling people in slowly. You come for one lesson to see what it's like, and somewhere in those 30 minutes, you start to understand why people keep coming back.
Fulton and Penngrove, we're closer than you think, and we'd love to meet you this summer. If you've been thinking about trying horseback riding, there's no better time to start. Reserve your intro lesson today and experience it for yourself.
